Church of Christ Manifesto

Statement of Faith

We, the brethren of the church of Christ, the called out people of God according to the pattern of the new covenant which was established on the day of pentecost do solemnly declare:

  1. That Jesus Christ is the only head of the church, His body (Colossians 1:18);
  2. That the sole authority in matters of faith is the new covenant (Hebrews 9:15);
  3. That all members of the church are co-equals regardless of rank or social status (Ephesians 6:9, 1 Peter 5:3);
  4. That unity of faith (doctrine) is necessary to keep the fellowship inside the church (Ephesians 4:5);
  5. That the message of God, His inspired word, is unambiguous (2 Peter 1:20);
  6. That any teaching that does not conform to the teachings of Jesus Christ and pattern of the new covenant must be rejected as heresy;
  7. That false doctrine, in any way, shape, or form, has no place inside the church;
  8. That it is the duty of every member of the church to correct an erring brother or sister;
  9. That willful ignorance of any false teaching, heresy, perversion, or misrepresentation of God’s inspired word is a sin, and that the brother or sister who tolerates such things will share the guilt in the day of judgment;
  10. That unity in the church is only through adherence to the inspired word of God and not by any other means;
  11. That any concessions made to create a semblance of unity does not conform to the teachings of Jesus Christ and the pattern of the new testament;
  12. That salvation of one’s soul takes precedence over human relationships (Matthew 10:37), vested interests, rank, social status, prestige (Matthew 19:21), or numbers/church membership (Matthew 7:13).
